SaaS Application Development in Montreal

SaaS development is for founders and established businesses that want to sell software by subscription: a product customers sign up for and pay for monthly. If you are in Montreal with a tool that works for your own company and could work for others, this is the service.

DaniMaster builds and operates SaaS products. FacilInvoice, our bilingual invoicing platform for Canadian small businesses, runs on Stripe subscriptions and a Canadian tax engine we wrote ourselves. We bring that operating experience to your product: billing, multi-tenant data, admin tools, security and the hosting that keeps it up.

What we build

A SaaS product is a web application plus everything needed to sell and run it for many customers at once. We build the whole package:

Our Cloud software solutions run on Docker and nginx behind Cloudflare, on Canadian or North American servers, or on Supabase when a small team should not run infrastructure. We offer Cloud migration services for products stuck on a single ageing server, moving data and traffic with minimal downtime.

Our DevOps consulting covers deployments, backups, monitoring, log alerts and the monthly security review we run on our own domains.

For Financial software solutions such as invoicing, payments, subscriptions and ledgers, we bring direct experience from FacilInvoice and from integrating Odoo 17 and ERPNext as central ledgers for several brands.

How we work

Building a SaaS product with us follows six steps, and the first one matters most.

Discovery. We define the single customer segment the first version serves, the one workflow it must do better than alternatives, and the pricing model. We agree on what version one leaves out.

Design. We design the signup flow, the core screens and the billing experience together. The first five minutes decide whether a trial converts.

Build. Short cycles with a staging environment you can share with pilot customers. Billing goes in early so you can charge from the first release.

Test. Tenant isolation, payment edge cases such as failed cards and plan changes, and load on the core screens.

Launch. We deploy to infrastructure in your company's name, with backups, monitoring and a status page. You keep the Stripe account and the data.

Support. We run deployments, security patches and improvements on a monthly plan, or hand over to your team with documentation.

FacilInvoice: a SaaS product we built and run

FacilInvoice (facilinvoice.ca) is the SaaS product we built and run, and it shows what a complete subscription product involves.

It is a bilingual invoicing platform for Canadian freelancers and small businesses. Customers sign up, pick a plan and pay through Stripe subscriptions. Invoices are generated as PDFs in French or English.

The hard part was tax. Canada has GST, HST, QST and PST, and the right combination depends on the seller's province, the buyer's province and the type of supply. We wrote a multi-province tax engine that applies the correct rates and labels on every invoice, the kind of logic generic international tools get wrong for Quebec businesses.

The second hard part was Interac e-Transfer. Small businesses get paid by e-Transfer constantly. FacilInvoice gives each business a forwarding inbox. Payment notices arrive there, pass authenticity checks so a forged email cannot mark an invoice paid, and are matched to open invoices automatically.

An admin console lets us manage customers, plans and support without touching the database. Promo codes handle launches and partnerships. Every one of these pieces is reusable in the products we build for clients.

What SaaS development costs and how long it takes

SaaS projects cost more than a simple web application because billing, multi-tenancy and self-service have to work on day one. Honest Canadian-dollar ranges:

Scope is the main driver, followed by the number of integrations and compliance requirements. A tightly scoped pilot can start from $8,000 if billing is handled manually at first.

We quote a fixed price for version one and recommend phasing. Montreal founders often fund version two from the first paying customers rather than from a larger initial budget.

Why build your SaaS with a Montreal team

SaaS is sold everywhere, but it is built somewhere, and where matters.

Bilingual products for a bilingual market. Quebec customers expect French-first software and French invoices. We build both languages into the data model, emails and PDFs from the start.

Law 25 as a selling point. Quebec's Law 25 requires consent management, a privacy officer, data inventories and breach notification. A SaaS product that handles these well wins Quebec and Canadian business customers. We can host entirely in Canada.

Canadian billing done right. Stripe configured for Canadian tax, GST, HST, QST and PST on your invoices to customers, and Interac flows where they make sense.

Operators, not just builders. We run our own SaaS from Montreal. When your product has a billing bug at month end, you are talking to people who have fixed the same thing in their own product.

Eastern time support, and in-person meetings in Montreal when you want them.

Who SaaS development is for

SaaS development fits these situations.

The internal tool that others want. A Montreal logistics company built a dispatch tool for itself, and partners keep asking to use it. We turn it into a multi-tenant product with billing and onboarding.

The founder with domain expertise. A property manager or a trainer knows a workflow intimately and wants to sell software for it. We build a fixed-scope first version and get it in front of paying customers in months.

The agency moving to recurring revenue. A services business wants a product line that does not depend on billable hours. We help choose the narrowest viable product and ship it.

The product stuck on old infrastructure. An existing SaaS runs on one server nobody dares restart. We migrate it to a managed cloud setup.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to launch a SaaS product?

A tightly scoped SaaS MVP with signup, one core workflow, Stripe billing and a basic admin console takes eight to twelve weeks. A fuller first version with team accounts, plans and an API takes four to eight months. Launch narrow, charge from day one and expand from what paying customers ask for.

Can you handle Canadian sales tax on subscriptions?

Yes. We configure Stripe for Canadian tax and, where needed, build custom logic for GST, HST, QST and PST based on the customer's province. We wrote a multi-province tax engine for FacilInvoice and know where generic tools go wrong for Quebec businesses. Confirm registration thresholds with your accountant.

Where will my SaaS be hosted?

Where you choose. We deploy on Canadian or North American servers with Docker and nginx behind Cloudflare, or on managed services such as Supabase when your team should not run infrastructure. Canadian-only hosting is available for products that need to promise it. Accounts are in your company's name.

Can you migrate an existing product to the cloud?

Yes. Cloud migration typically involves containerizing the application, moving the database, adding backups and monitoring, and switching DNS with minimal downtime. We start with an audit, give you a fixed price and a cutover window, and keep the old environment available until the new one is proven.
